Benjamin Franklin (Boston, January 17, 1706 – Philadelphia, April 17, 1790) was an American scientist and politician.
A multifaceted genius, he was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States. He worked as a journalist, publicist, author, typographer, diplomat, activist, inventor, scientist and politician. He was among the protagonists of the American Revolution. He made important contributions to the study of electricity and was passionate about meteorology and anatomy. He invented the lightning rod, bifocals, the harmonica and a model of fireplace stove known in the Anglo-Saxon world as the Franklin stove.
