1991 CHINA Panda 10th Anniversary 2 oz Silver Piedfort Great Rarity

In 1991, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the first Gold Panda, the Bank of China released a special limited-issue 10 ten Yuan Panda Piefort Proof silver coin struck in pure 999 solid silver weighing two ounces of pure and precious silver.​

Pieforts are coins specially struck on thicker than normal dies.
As the name suggests, they are closely associated with France, where from the 12th century onwards they were apparently issued by kings as presentation pieces.
In Britain the practice of striking piedforts is later and less frequent, but medieval and Tudor examples are known.
