Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Al-Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Almarhum Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien (Brunei Town, 15 July 1946) is the current Sultan of Brunei, the 29th in chronological order, as well as the first and current Prime Minister of Brunei. The eldest son of Omar Ali Saifuddien III and Pengiran Anak Damit, his sultanate began on 5 October 1967, after his father's voluntary abdication.

Holder of absolute power, he is the second longest-serving Head of State in the world. His assets amount to $ 20 billion as of 2018.
