EAST AFRICA – 100 Shillings Elizabeth II Very Fine
Background:
British East Africa (English: British East Africa or East Africa Protectorate) is the set of territories in East Africa that were under British control from the 19th to the 20th century. It roughly included the territories of present-day Kenya. Although part of the domains of the Sultanate of Zanzibar, it was controlled by Great Britain in the late 19th century; it arose out of British commercial interests in the area in the 1880s and remained a protectorate until 1920 when it became the colony of Kenya, except for an independent coastal strip 16km wide which became the protectorate of Kenya.
